New MARPOL Special Areas Map – Edition 20

The MARPOL 73/78 Special Areas Map Edition 20 has been released, highlighting significant revisions aimed at enhancing maritime safety and environmental protection.

Key Change:

As of 1 May 2025, the Mediterranean Sea will effectively become an Emission Control Area (ECA) for sulphur oxides (SOx) under MARPOL Annex VI Regulation 14.
